Virus Removal
Virus and Malware support – Computer Virus Removal
Cybercrime is here to stay. So long as there’s private information stored on or transmitted by your computer, there will be cyberthiefs.
These crooks will use trojans, worms, rootkits, spyware, malware and whatever sort of junkware they can get a hold of to make more money selling away your privacy.
How our virus removal works:
- If you drop off the computer off (either in downtown or the westside) the charge is a flat $99 dollars for the removal. This includes reformatting the system if the infection is beyond normal repair.
- If the virus can be removed remotely then there’s no cost to you under our All You Can Eat Support plans (starting at just $30 per month).
If you have questions or you aren’t sure if a virus is what’s causing your problem feel free to get a hold of us.
One of the most frequently asked question after we finish a virus removal is: “How did I get this *$ virus?!”
Unless we revisit your steps back in time in detail and pinpoint the time of infection (for *each* infection) it takes quite a bit of research to find a conclusive answer but below is a list of likely events that led to an infection:
- Email from a friend with an “alleged” attachment. These aren’t actual attachments (they’d quickly be flagged by the server) they’re just simple links to the attachment. When you click it, instead of pictures you are directed to the cyberattack and your computer’s survival will depend on your computer’s security settings.
- Random plug-in needed to gain access to content. You’re browsing a site and a pop-up comes up asking you to install some plug-in or allow some operation. I’m not saying you shouldn’t install plugins, but I am suggesting that you know very well the company who built it (think Microsoft, Apple, Sun, IBM, Mozilla, Google, RIM, Intuit, etc.). If it’s a random website with their own “video plugin” you should back on out of that site and find your content elsewhere.
- Hijacked websites. Sometimes one of your favorite websites will become hijacked and will start spreading viruses to their visitors. This has happened to some pretty big names out there (we won’t point fingers) and the results are pretty scary.
- Infected attachments – PDF’s, word documents, spreadsheets and other filetypes are all succeptible to their own exploits. Keeping the software you use to open attachments up to date is just one step you can take to ensuring your computer doesn’t become compromised.
- Infected CD’s or USB drives – Most media that plugs into your computer has an “autoplay” feature which allows your computer to automatically do X if Y gets plugged in. This allows viruses to spread by executing their code when the media is plugged in. Most antivirus software will automatically scan external media.
We provide computer virus removal services on laptops, netbooks, servers and desktop computers both remotely and on-site. If you are outside the Los Angeles area, don’t worry – most problems can quickly and efficiently be solved remotely.
This includes devices running XP/Vista/Windows 7 as well as Macintosh and Linux computers.
We provide services to small businesses and residents normally by doing a house call.

Computer viruses infect millions of computers every day. Viruses can destroy data, steal important information, and even make a computer completely unusable. When a computer is infected by a virus it is imperative that the virus be removed as quickly as possible.
If a computer is infected by a computer virus the computer needs to be scanned by virus scanning software. If you do not have virus scanning software than you have a few choices.
You may buy some software at your favorite computer store or download one of the many antivirus software titles available.
We recommend ESET Nod 32 and Microsoft Security Essentials.
